Refugee Research with North-South Initiative (NSI) 2022
Refugee research is a challenging endeavour. Researchers must strictly abide by the code of ethics to protect and prevent vulnerable groups and the people involved from harm before, during and after the research.
"Do no harm" may sound simple, but it is far from easy.
That is why it is vital to collaborate with trusted partners to help make the essential connections and provide guidance in engaging with the refugee community and the organisations that support them. For my research, I was blessed to partner with the North-South Initiative (NSI), a Malaysian-based civil society organisation that aims to promote sustainable development in Malaysia and other developing countries.
Upon graduation, Ling Ling presented the research findings to NSI members and refugee leaders in February 2023. The research looked into the psychological adaptation of Zomi refugees in Malaysia compared to other refugees.
The research project was accomplished with the openness, support, guidance and dedication of Adrian Pereira, Tg. Paupi and Agha Sattar.
